On the night of the 17th to the 18th of Safar, experience the Night of Katmiya (Laylatoul Katmiya), a tribute to Seydina Ahmed Tidiane Chérif.
The city of Kaolack is preparing to vibrate to the rhythm of the Night of Katmiya, commonly known as Laylatoul Katmiya, scheduled for next August 12. This event was first initiated in Senegal by Thierno Hassan Dème, a great Islamic scholar and faithful companion of Cheikh Al Islam, El Hadji Ibrahima Niass.
Indeed, this night is part of the will to perpetuate the spiritual legacy of Cheikh Ahmed Tidiani Chérif, a man of God entrusted with a dual mission.
“Al-Khatmiyatou wal Katmiya”, observed in the night of the 17th to the 18th of Safar in Fez, symbolizes a night of gratitude towards God, but also a tribute to the emblematic figures of the Tidjaniyya, such as Seydina Ahmed Tidiane Chérif.
For the 2025 edition, the chosen theme is learning — a choice inspired by the teachings of Cheikh Ahmed Tidiani, who reminded his disciples to adhere only to his words based on the Shari’a, meaning the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
