حسبي به وبطه
My sufficiency is with Him and with Ṭāhā (the Prophet).
Hasbî bihî wa bi Ṭâhâ
حسبي بشيخي التجاني
My sufficiency is with my Shaykh, at-Tijānī.
Hasbî bi Shaykhî Tijânî
حسبي ببرٍ رؤوفٍ
My sufficiency is with the kind and compassionate one.
Hasbî bi barrin ra’ûfin
حسبي به وكفاني
My sufficiency is with Him, and He is enough for me.
Hasbî bihî wa kafânî
قلبي له ومرامي
My heart belongs to Him, and He is my goal.
Qalbî lahu wa marâmî
وقالبي كل آني
And my essence is with Him at all times.
Wa qâlabî kulla ânî
ربي فداري عبيداني
My Lord, my dwelling is that of Your servant.
Rabbî fa dârî ‘ubaydânî
صرخة دون توانٍ
A cry without hesitation.
Surkhatun dûna tawânî
لا تشمتن الأعداء بي
Do not let the enemies rejoice over me.
Lâ tushmit al-a‘dâ’a bî
ولا توسوس جناني
And let no whisper touch my heart.
Wa lâ tuwaswisu janânî
فاجعل فؤادي كصخرٍ
Make my heart as firm as a rock.
Faj‘al fu’âdî ka sakh’rin
ولا تدره كباني
And do not let it be shaken like dust.
Wa lâ tudhirhu kabânî
ولا تشغلني كل شكوى
And distract me not with every complaint.
Wal tâshghilnî kulla shak’wâ
وتهدي هذي الهماني
But guide this anxious soul.
Wa tahdî hâdhil hamânî
بجاه خير البرايا
By the rank of the Best of Creation.
Bi jâhi khayril barâyâ
وجاه شيخي التجاني
And by the rank of my Shaykh at-Tijānī.
Wa jâhi Shaykhî Tijânî
وجاه شيخي وأصلي
And by the rank of my Shaykh and my lineage.
Wa jâhi Shaykhî wa ashlî
وليدي آل المكاني
And my father from the noble household.
Walîdî âlil makânî
الحاج عبد الإله
Al-Hajj ‘Abd al-Ilāh
Al-hâjji ‘Abdu ilâhî
بهجتي طول أواني
My joy throughout my life.
Bahjatî tôla awânî
مطلبي رقية مقامين
My request is the elevation of ranks.
Matlabî ruqyat maqâmînî
صرخة في ذا الزمان
A cry in this very time.
Surkhatun fî hâzâ az-zamânî
مطلبي حرص الأصول
My desire is steadfastness in the roots.
Matlabî hirs al-usûlî
صرخة دون توانٍ
A cry without delay.
Surkhatun dûna tawânî
فلست أرضى سواه
I am content with none but Him.
Falastu ardhâ siwâhu
خائن لأهل المعاني
A traitor to the people of meanings.
Khâ’in li ahlil ma‘ânî
نَادَيْتُ شيخاً تجانياً
I called upon Shaykh Tijānī.
Nadaytu Shaykhan Tijânî
لحاج أمرٍ دهاني
For a matter that overwhelmed me.
Li hâji amrin dahânî
نلنا نحوه همَّ دنيا
We attained toward him the concern of this world.
Nilnâ nahwahu hamma dunyâ
وذاتي ممتَ دِهاني
And my being is full of his grace.
Wa dhâtî mumtadihânî
آجر قدمك قد أهمَّ
Your steps, O pilgrim, have honored.
Âjir qadamuka qad ahamma
مقام شيخي التجاني
The rank of my Shaykh at-Tijānī.
Maqâm Shaykhî Tijânî
هاجر عبيدك برهماً
Your servant migrated like Abraham.
Hâjira ‘ubaydaka barhâman
فهو في الحُب فاني
He is annihilated in love.
Fa huwa fil hubbi fânî
شيخي مولاي أحمد
My Shaykh, my Master Ahmad.
Shaykhî Mawlây Ahmad
تجاني روح المعاني
Tijānī, the spirit of meanings.
Tijânî rûhul ma‘ânî
يا نصرتي ورجائي
O my helper and my hope.
Yâ nusratî wa rajâ’î
ومنقذي وجناني
My savior and the life of my heart.
Wa munkhidhî wa jinânî
نلنا المرَام جميعاً
We have attained the goal together.
Nilnâ al-marâma jamî‘an
لم نُبَالِ خيرَ تجانٍ
We cared for none but the good Tijānī.
Lam nubâli khayra Tijânî
حجِّل بفيضك شيخي
Pour your overflow upon me, my Shaykh.
Hajjil bi faydika Shaykhî
تجري في الفيضاني
Flowing through the divine effusion.
Tajrî fil fayadânî
والتسقنا كل وقتٍ
And quench us at all times.
Wal tusqinâ kulla waqtin
والتحطنا فيض ثاني
And surround us with a second effusion.
Wal tuhtinâ fayda thânî
قطب البرايا جميعاً
The pole of all creation.
Qutb al-barâyâ jamî‘an
بل هو شمس زماني
Indeed, he is the sun of my time.
Bal huwa shamsu zamânî
عطف العبيد مناه
Grant mercy to the servant, his wish.
‘Utf al-‘abîdi munâhu
إذ هافكم قد كفاني
For your grace has sufficed me.
Izh hâ fakam qad kafânî
أزكى سلامي سلامي
My purest greetings and peace.
Azka salâmî salâmî
أنا لا زَهِيم الجنان
I am ever in the gardens.
Anâ lâ zahîmil jinânî
من بعد كل سحابٍ
After every cloud.
Min ba‘di kulli sahâbin
بعد آلٍ كل آنٍ
After the noble ones, at every moment.
Ba‘da âlin kulla ânin
